What happended
At this moment everyone is fully aware what COVID-19 is about. We don't know how would it end and for how long it will last or be an issue. The thing is that I've been impacted by it in the work area, the company I was working for as a contractor, iwoca, made me redundant due to the complicate situation. Not being an employee has this kind of downsides, you cannot be furloughed...
I appreciate the opportunity I got from iwoca this last year and four months to help them managing their AWS infrastructure and integrate it as much as possible with Datadog. I hope that they manage to survive and keep doing the amazing work they do helping SME in the UK to grow and succeed.
What's next
As you can imagine, I'm available for hiring. I'm open for both, permanent or contractor roles. If you are looking for someone to help you making your product a success I'm here to help. Based on all my previous experience, there are lots of different scenarios and challenges I've been facing that you could benefice from.
While I'm with my new job of finding new projects to work on, I decided to follow an advice I got from my manager at iwoca and start blogging about what I know and new things I learn. That's a way to, first, give me more visibility showing what I know and the way I like to work, and second, it helps me to document everything I do or learn.
My plan is to get into the habit of writing something around once per week, but creating habits takes a bit of time, so don't expect something so frequent from the beginning...
Another goal I'm setting is to read more. One thing I did back on my days as Engineering Manager at Server Density was to start reading more books as part of the book club we had for the managers team. I stopped doing that after leaving the company and I'm regretting it now. If you have any book suggestion let me know about it, please :D.
